Our Choice
Global Sustainable Tourism Council
Sustainability is not simply a strategic objective, but a fundamental principle that guides every decision we make. Our commitment is to reduce environmental impact, promote social inclusion, and maintain high standards of governance. We have chosen to follow a path of continuous improvement by embracing the international criteria set by the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC). This framework allows us to evaluate the sustainability of our operations not only from an environmental standpoint, but also in terms of management practices, social responsibility, economic impact, and cultural preservation.

A Seal of Our Quality
The decision to adopt GSTC standards stems from their global recognition as a shared international language. The criteria to which we have responded through our actions and commitment are valid worldwide and, most importantly, part of a third-party certification process.
Third-party certification is a process by which an organisation or product is assessed and verified by an independent entity, external to the company or individual requesting it. This “third party” ensures that specific requirements are met, providing impartial assurance regarding the quality, compliance, and safety of the certified product, service, or system. In short, third-party certification represents a globally recognised mark of quality and reliability, offering both consumers and businesses a tangible guarantee of the seriousness and credibility behind what is being certified.
It is precisely these principles that led us to choose GSTC, ensuring maximum transparency and integrity in our operations—for our employees, guests, suppliers, local communities, and institutions.
Respect for the Land
Maritim Resort Calabria is located in one of Italy’s most captivating yet lesser-known regions: Calabria. Situated in the northeastern part of the region, near the town of Villapiana in the province of Cosenza, the resort overlooks the stunning Ionian Sea and lies within a land rich in history, culture, and natural beauty.
This privileged location offers guests the opportunity to discover and appreciate some of the region’s most fascinating destinations—places to love and protect—such as the magnificent Pollino National Park and enchanting villages like Civita, Rossano, Sibari, and many more.

Respect for Work and the Rules
An Absolute Code of Ethics
We promote work as a source of social recognition, dignity, and personal fulfilment, encouraging passionate participation in our corporate vision. We offer concrete growth opportunities in a stimulating work environment where team members are free to express their talents and invest in their professional development, fuelling their passion for hospitality.
The staff at our resort is like a big family, where respect is the core value. We ensure equal treatment and fairness at all levels of the organisation and have adopted an ethical code that reflects the values we believe in. We condemn all forms of exploitation, harassment, and discrimination based on gender, ethnicity, religion, or disability.

Local Supply Chain
Responsible Choices
Our commitment extends to the careful selection of our supply chain, prioritising local products and offering a variety of traditional dishes made with ingredients sourced from the surrounding area.
We have implemented procedures that favour purchasing from local producers and suppliers, with the aim of reducing CO₂ emissions related to transportation and supporting the local economy. Our menu planning follows the rhythm of the seasons, enhancing the availability of fresh ingredients and promoting local food varieties while embracing the principles of short supply chains.
We also adopt cooking techniques that reduce food waste by making use of every part of the ingredients, emphasising respect for the product and environmental awareness.

Actions Over Words
Smart and Eco-Friendly Purchasing
We support a form of sustainable tourism that is in harmony with responsible and tangible choices. Reducing environmental impact starts with purchasing eco-friendly and efficient products—beginning with the elimination of plastic and single-use items wherever possible.
In all our rooms, we have replaced disposable cups with glassware. Plastic bottles are used only in exceptional cases and in minimal quantities. During lunch and dinner, guests are offered glass water bottles and water dispensers. Upon arrival, each guest receives a complimentary reusable water bottle, which can be refilled at various points around the resort.
We have also installed dispensers for soaps and shampoos in all rooms, eliminating single-use courtesy sets while opting for natural and eco-conscious products. We purchase certified paper products (toilet paper, napkins, printer paper), and have audited all our cleaning supplies, which we are progressively replacing with Ecolabel-certified products or alternatives bearing similar eco-certifications.

Respect for the Community
People at the Heart
We continually monitor team motivation and satisfaction through surveys that help us identify areas for improvement and gather feedback to enhance workplace well-being.
Our dedication to the local area is reflected in the hiring of local staff, helping to support and sustain the surrounding community. Our team members are the most valuable resource for delivering a high-quality experience to our guests.

Emission Reduction
Sustainable Mobility
Public transportation in our area still has room for improvement and does not yet offer optimal solutions for getting around. Approximately 70% of our guests are from Germany, while the remaining 30% are Italian. Nearly all international guests travel by air and reach the resort through an organised shuttle service.
Once at the resort, however, we actively encourage the use of alternative modes of transport and offer guided excursions to explore the surrounding area. In the hotel lobby, an information point is always available, providing up-to-date schedules for all public transport options.
Guests also have access to 40 bicycles and 4 electric bikes, available upon reservation, as well as 3 charging stations for electric vehicles.
